Helping Your Child Feel Comfortable
It is normal for you and your child to have some fears and apprehension about being separated. We all need time to get used to new environments. Try to prepare your child for the changes as far in advance as possible. Discuss any concerns. Talk about the new people your child will meet and the new things he or she will do. If possible, bring your child to the center while you remain in the room. If this is the first time your child has been separated from you, it is natural for both parent and child to feel reluctant. Even the smallest infant can sense when a parent feels nervous or worried. A cheerful goodbye kiss, a smile and a reassuring word that you will be back after work is usually all you need to do. Our loving staff will take it from there. Children generally settle down shortly after their parents leave. Feel free to call your child’s teacher or the Director when you arrive at work to see how your child is doing. You will usually find that your child is busy playing, and you can relax and concentrate on your job.
