Medication
All medication, including over the counter medicine, given to a child at Kids at Heart must be authorized by a written statement from their physician. All medication must be in the original container, indicating the child’s name, type, date of prescribed medication and the amount and times of dosage. When medication is brought to Kids at Heart, you must give it to the Director or your child’s teacher to be stored properly. A medication form must be completed by the parent to authorize medication to be administered. Medicine is only administered by employees who have received medicine administration training.
Injuries
The Kids at Heart staff makes every effort to assure your child’s safety. Unfortunately, minor accidents sometimes occur. Your Director or teacher will contact you in such an event, and provide you with an accident or illness record for each occurrence. In case of a serious accidental injury, we will make every attempt to contact you for instructions. If we cannot reach you, we will then call the emergency contact named on your enrollment form to make emergency decisions about your child. It is imperative that you keep your contacts and numbers updated on all forms. Your signed medical release will assist us in getting prompt medical attention. The Director will stay with your child until your arrival.
